A vision for Education in Australia
Curriculum Compass: Planning, Teaching, Assessing and Reporting requirements (P-12) for Brisbane Catholic Education schools aligns with the Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration. The declaration sets out a vision for a world class education system that encourages and supports every student to be the very best they can be, no matter where they live or what kind of learning challenges they may face.
It sets out two goals:
• Goal 1: The Australian education system promotes excellence and equity
• Goal 2: All young Australians become:
– confident and creative individuals
– successful lifelong learners
– active and informed members of the community.
Achieving these education goals begins with the effective implementation of the approved curricula outlined in Curriculum Compass (a supporting Resource for teachers from Brisbane Catholic Education). The four requirements described are supported by elements that enhance the planning and delivery of teaching and learning in BCE schools.
Vision
The Brisbane Catholic Education vision of a faith-filled learning community creating a better future calls us to inspire each learner to grow and succeed in a changing world. Together with our mission to teach, challenge and transform, this vision underpins the Learning and Teaching Framework which provides a pathway for the learning and growth of students built on our values and beliefs.
Purpose
The BCE Education Strategy promotes excellence and equity in learning, enabling all to grow and thrive. This document for Planning, Teaching, Assessing and Reporting requirements (P-12) provides direction for consistent, foundational implementation practices and processes required of Brisbane Catholic Education schools to deliver excellence and equity in learning. Curriculum Compass is one of the foundations of BCE Education Strategy enactments. It is supported by core guiding documents, including:
